In 2014, the natural grass field that had served as home to the West Chester University men’s and women’s soccer programs since 1970 was replaced with artificial Field Turf, leaving the two adjacent natural grass fields to serve as practice pitches for the squads. West Chester University, the WCU Foundation and WCU Athletics christened John A. "Jack" Rockwell Field on Tuesday, October 22, 2013. Rockwell Field is named in honor of the WCU alum and former Golden Rams goalkeeper through the generosity of John R. Rockwell, his wife Frances, and the entire Rockwell family. Jack Rockwell, who passed away in 2011, was a member of West Chester's co-national championship squad in 1936. The game field features three sets of bleachers for fans and a newly-installed scoreboard. Seating capacity at Rockwell Field is listed at 400 with additional standing room only along the fence that surrounds the game field, or on the hill behind the north goal. Both the men’s and women’s teams are perennial conference title contenders while the women’s team reached the national finals in 2006 and the men reached the NCAA Division II National Championship Game in 2018.
