PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Former West Chester University defensive back,
Al-Hajj Shabazz (Philadelphia, Pa./Bartram) was promoted off of the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad onto its active roster. He is expected to be in uniform Sunday when the Steelers take on the New York Jets.
Shabazz, two years removed from West Chester University, was promoted along with offensive lineman Matt Feiler, who played his college football at PSAC rival Bloomsburg. He is the first former West Chester University football player to dress for a regular season NFL game since Lee Woodall retired in 2001, while playing for the Denver Broncos.
Shabazz was signed by the Steelers to a Reserve/Future contract on Feb. 4, 2016. He originally was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Indianapolis Colts in May 2015.
