West Chester (14-3-1) must now wait for its fate with the NCAA Selection Committee to see if its season continues. East Stroudsburg (9-6-2) advances to play Slippery Rock, who was a 1-0 winner in overtime over Shippensburg. The semifinals will be played in Erie, Pa., at Gannon University on Friday, Nov. 6 with the championship game set for Sunday.
The Golden Rams had plenty of opportunities to score in both regulation and each of the overtime periods, before the game went to penalty kicks. However, ESU goalkeeper Jules Harris came up with a few big stops to keep the Warriors alive. She smothered a shot attempt from Linzi Wolfe in the second OT period, coming off her line to get right up on Wolfe before she could get a good foot on the bal. Harris also saved a shot from Kara Parvel in the second half. But, perhaps her best save of the day came in the first 45 minutes when she punched a shot over the crossbar that was headed for the top center of the goal.
West Chester outshot East Stroudsburg, 11-8. Harris made seven saves in the 110 minutes of regulation. Golden Rams' keeper Alex Srolis made five saves, none of them difficult, as West Chester limited their opponents' opportunities quite well. The hosts also held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks, but could not convert any of them.
