Brandon Monk (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) and R-Fr., DB
Nydair Rouse (Philadelphia, Pa./Simon Gratz) were each named in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's weekly awards. Monk was picked as the Eastern Divison special teams player of the week while Rouse walked home with defensive athlete of the week.
Monk returned a kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter of West Chester's 33-9 victory over Lock Haven. It was his second kickoff return for a touchdown in his four-year career and helped the Golden Rams draw even in the game. Monk finished with 161 all-purpose yards, rushing for 65 yards on the ground as well.
Meanwhile, Rouse led all West Chester tacklers with seven stops and three passes defensed, including one interception. Rouse was part of a defense that limited Lock Haven to just nine points in the game and just 38 yards of total offense in the second half, including just three yards in the third quarter.
Monk and Rouse are the second and third recipients of a weekly award for the Golden Rams this year. Jarel Elder was the Eastern Division offensive player of the week two weeks ago.
West Chester (3-2, 2-0 PSAC) hosts Kutztown (3-2, 2-0) on Saturday at John A. Farrell Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
