LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - West Chester University sixth-year senior quarterback
Sean McCartney (Doylestown, Pa./Archbishop Wood) was named the PSAC Eastern Division Offensive Player of the Week it was announced by that organization Sunday afternoon.
McCartney is the second West Chester player recognized by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, but the first on the offensive side of the ball. Classmate Al-Hajj Shabazz was named the PSAC Defensive Player of the Week earlier in the season.
McCartney completed 18-of-25 passes for 307 yards and three touchdowns in just one half, leading No. 10 West Chester (4-0, 3-0) to a 62-7 victory over Millersville. McCartney completed nine of his first 10 passes, including the first seven while engineering touchdown drives on the Golden Rams' first three possessions. On McCartney's final drive of the game, he took West Chester on a five-play, 55-yard touchdown scoring drive in the two-minute drill. He hit Mike Doty for a 21-yard touchdown strike in the final seconds of the first half.
West Chester will take on Lock Haven next Saturday at home with kickoff set for 12 p.m.Â
