Erick Brundidge (Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast) caught six passes for 166 yards and three touchdowns to lead 10th-ranked West Chester University to a 45-10 victory over host Seton Hill Saturday evening.
West Chester (3-0, 2-0 PSAC) scored the first 38 points in the contest and never looked back against the Griffins (1-2, 1-1). The Golden Rams remain in a two-way tie with Bloomsburg for first place in the conference standings as the only two unbeaten squads in the East. West Chester led, 24-0, at halftime thanks to a 21-point second quarter.
Brundidge hauled in two of his three TD passes in the second quarter while Shawn Driggins caught a 19-yard touchdown strike, which is by far his longest TD reception. Driggins has seven career catches now, five of which have gone for a touchdown.
Brundidge gathered in scoring strikes of 81 yards, 32 yards and 11 yards to tie his career high while establishing a new single-game record with his 166 yards receiving. Brundidge's last TD catch came from
Andrew Derr (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin).
Quarterback
Sean McCartney (Doylestown, Pa./Archbishop Wood) threw for 261 yards and three TDs, giving him 60 career touchdown passes at West Chester University. Junior RB
Brandon Monk (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) rushed for 101 yards and a score, marking the second time in his career that he has eclipsed the 100-yard mark in a single game. The Golden Rams, who wanted to establish their running game, rushed for a season-high 218 yards. Monk finished with 127 all-purpose yards.
Ronell Williams (Chester, Pa./Chester) led West Chester with nine tackles while
Mike Labor (Haverford, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) had eight. The two All-America type linebackers continue to pace every defensive effort this season. Labor added one sack, two tackles for a loss and one pass breakup. Six of his eight tackles were solo efforts.
