Monk Cops PSAC East Offensive Player Of Week Honors Again

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Jr., RB Brandon Monk (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week it was announced Sunday afternoon by the conference.

Monk scored a touchdown three different ways in Saturday's 28-17 victory over host Indiana, Pa., at Miller Stadium. He opened the scoring on a 7-yard run, caught a 13-yard TD pass from Sean McCartney and also returned a punt 80 yards for a score. In all, he totaled up 200 all-purpose yards to lead West Chester to its first win at IUP since 1941.

Monk was selected the PSAC East Offensive athlete of the week last Sunday, after running over East Stroudsburg for 257 yards and a pair of scores. That performance put him over 1,000 yards rushing on the year. It marked the first time since 2004-2005 that West Chester had two different running backs rush for 1,000 yards in back-to-back campaigns. Rondell White rushed for a school single-season record 1,989 yards last season.

The honor is the second for Monk in his three-year career and the sixth for a Golden Rams player this fall. McCartney has also won the award twice while defenders Al-Hajj Shabazz and Shaquil Ryder have each been named PSAC East defensive player of the week once.

West Chester (10-1) earned the No. 4 seed in the NCAA II Playoffs and will host No. 5 Slippery Rock at John A. Farrell Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 12 p.m.
