LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - West Chester University sophomore defensive tackle,
Shaquil Ryder (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Athlete of the Week it was announced by that organization Sunday.
Ryder registered a career-high 10 tackles, recovered a fumble and posted one sack to lead No. 9 West Chester to a 29-7 win over Kutztown on the road Thursday night. Ryder registered three solo tackles and assisted on seven others. Kutztown came into the game averaging over 40 points per game and was held to less than 300 yards of total offense for the first time this season.
Ryder is the second defensive player from the Golden Rams to be named Easter Division player of the week and the third overall. Al-Hajj Shabazz was the loop's defensive player of the week from the East in week one while Sean McCartney was the offensive player of the week in the East two weeks ago.
West Chester (6-0, 5-0 PSAC) returns home to John A. Farrell Stadium for Homecoming Weekend this Saturday and a 2 p.m. kickoff against Shippensburg University.                   Â
