CAPE COD, Mass. - West Chester University football players Mike Labor and Rondell White were each honored by the ECAC as that organization's Division II athletes of the week. It marked the second week in a row that West Chester athletes took home both the offensive player of the week and defensive player of the week honors.
Jr., LB Mike Labor was named the ECAC Division II defensive player of the week for his performance against Millersville in last Saturday's 48-3 victory over the Marauders. He registered seven tackles, including half of a sack, and also forced a fumble. He was part of a defense that allowed just three points and only seven yards rushing, to go along with 121 total yards of offense. Labor is the second Golden Rams player to take home ECAC weekly defensive honors. Al-Hajj Shabazz was named the ECAC Division II defensive player of the week last week for his efforts in a win over Gannon.
Sr., RB Rondell White was named the ECAC Division II offensive player of the week for the second straight week. He rushed for 227 yards and three touchdowns in West Chester's 48-3 win over Millersville last Saturday. It marked the second straight week that White eclipsed 200 yards rushing in a game. He rushed for a career-high 245 yards at Gannon the week before. White is currently second in the country in rushing yards per game (189.3) and leads the country in all-purpose yards per game (281.7).
No. 19/20 West Chester hosts PSAC East rival Kutztown on Saturday at John A. Farrell Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game. The University is also selling pink T-shirts at the gate for $10. All proceeds will go towards Unite for HER in an effort to support breast cancer research and awareness.
