KUTZTOWN, Pa.
- West Chester University's football squad was selected third in the Eastern Division of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference preseason coaches' poll it was announced at the 2013 PSAC Football Media Day inside the MacFarland Student Union building on the campus of Kutztown University.

West Chester received one first-place vote in finishing behind defending Eastern Division champion Shippensburg, who received six first-place votes, and perennial East power Bloomsburg, who garnered the other first-place tally. Kutztown was selected fourth, East Stroudsburg fifth, Lock Haven sixth, Millersville seventh and Cheyney eighth. Lock Haven joins the Eastern Division for the first time this fall due to the addition of Seton Hill as a full-time member of the PSAC.

The Golden Rams are coming off a 7-4 campaign in 2012 that saw them finish 4-3 and in a tie for third place in the league standings. With seven players returning on offense and seven more on defense, head coach Bill Zwaan feels this should be a better year for the purple & gold. Preseason All-America RB Rondell White returns coming off a season in which he broke the school's single-season rushing record and scored 18 touchdowns. Fifth-year, junior QB, Sean McCartney also returns after missing nearly all of last season with a broken leg suffered in the team's first game of the year.

Defensively, All-America MLB Ronell Williams led the conference in tackles a year ago and will anchor the stop unit once again. Teamed with fellow ILB Mike Labor, West Chester boasts one of the best linebacking corps in the conference, if not all of Division II. Both are pro prospects with two more years of eligibility.

Out west, Indiana (Pa.) was picked to repeat as the division champion with seven first-place votes. Mercyhurst picked up the other first-place tally in finishing second in the voting. Slippery Rock was picked third, California (Pa.) fourth, Gannon was fifth, Edinboro sixth, Clarion seventh and newcomer Seton Hill eighth.

West Chester opens fall camp on Thursday, Aug. 15 with the first practice of the season. The Golden Rams will take on University of New Haven on Sept. 7 at home in the season opener.
