SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Former West Chester University wide receiver, Dan DePalma (’11), agreed to a two-year contract with the San Diego Chargers, it was announced by that organization recently.
The 5-foot-11, 192-lbs. receiver spent the last two seasons on the practice squad with the New York Giants. The hard-working wideout was a member of the Giants’ practice squad when they won Super Bowl XLVI two years ago. He signed a contract with the New York Jets following the lockout in the summer of 2011. That year, he spent training camp with the Jets, before being released right before the season. The Giants claimed him off waivers and assigned him to their practice squad.
DePalma was a two-time All-PSAC selection while in college. He caught 50 passes for 962 yards and nine TDs his senior season. His average of 19.2 yards per catch that year ranks 10th all-time at WCU in a single season. Overall, in two seasons as a wide receiver at West Chester, DePalma caught 95 passes for 1,794 yards and 18 touchdowns. His career average of 18.9 yards per catch is third all-time at West Chester.
