LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- West Chester freshman swimmer, Bradley Strathmeyer
, was named the PSAC Men’s Swimmer of the Year it was announced by that organization this week. Strathmeyer led the West Chester to its 15th consecutive PSAC championship title last month.
Strathmeyer is the fourth consecutive Golden Rams male swimmer to win the swimmer of the year award. Tommy Rhoads was the male swimmer of the year last winter while former teammate Kenny McCormick was swimmer of the year the previous two seasons. Strathmeyer is the 13th Golden Rams swimmer to be so honored by the conference.
During the PSAC championship meet, Strathmeyer managed to capture his first crown in the 1000-yard freestyle and his second in the 500 free. Strathmeyer also set a PSAC conference record in the 1650 free, touching the wall in 15 minutes and 31.57 seconds.
At the NCAA Division II Championships, the freshman continued to shine as he picked up a new conference record time and a third-place finish in the 500 free with a time of 4:24.74. He also placed third in the 1650 free on the final day of the meet.
