Men’s Track and Field Athletes Receive All-Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La - West Chester’s men’s track and field team had three members receive all-region accolades by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association (USTFCCCA). 
 
Jay Jabat was a recipient in the high jump after winning the PSAC Championship in that event over the weekend. Eric Hunter was named an all-region honoree in the pole vault while LeQuan Chapman was an all-region pick in the long jump.
 
Jay Jabat claimed West Chester’s only PSAC championship title this past weekend. He hit an NCAA provisional height with his 6-foot, 8 ¾ inches clearance while grabbing his first conference title. 
 
Sophomore Eric Hunter was named all-region for the second year in a row in the pole vault. 
 
LeQuan Chapman, who had placed second in the long jump of day one of the finals on Saturday, has also received the honors of being named all-region. He found out on Tuesday that he will be competing at the 2013 NCAA Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championships in the long jump.
 
The Golden Ram’s had placed seventh overall in 2013 PSAC Indoor Championship with a score of 39.5. 
The top five athletes from each region in individual events and each member of a relay ranked in the region’s top three have earned the all-region awards for this season. For the men, 555 student-athletes were given the name of all-region. The Grand Canyon men recorded 27 all-region selections, while Southern Connecticut followed close by with 25.
