CAPE COD, Mass. - For the second time in three weeks, West Chester University quarterback Sean McCartney has received ECAC Division II offensive football player of the week honors. Golden Rams linebacker Mike Labor earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
Jr., QB Sean McCartney was named the ECAC Division II offensive player of the week. He threw three TD passes in the second half to lead West Chester to a come-from-behind victory over visiting East Stroudsburg Saturday. He accounted for all four of WCU's touchdowns, scoring on a 2-yard naked bootleg in the first quarter, as the Golden Rams defeated the Warriors, 34-20, on Homecoming. McCartney was 25-for-39 for 275 yards. He completed a pass to nine different receivers in the game. In the second half, McCartney was 15-for-21 for 169 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Rams to the win. McCartney was also named PSAC East offensive player of the week on Sunday.
Jr., LB Mike Labor was named the ECAC Division II defensive player of the week. Labor led West Chester with eight tackles, including a pair of sacks, and he also intercepted a pass as the Golden Rams defeated East Stroudsburg, 34-20 on Homecoming Weekend. Labor's interception early in the third quarter, led directly to the go-ahead touchdown. West Chester's defense pitched a shutout in the second half, The Rams trailed, 20-10, at the break.
No. 18/15 West Chester (6-0, 3-0 PSAC), is on the road at Lock, Haven (2-4, 1-2 PSAC) for a pivotal PSAC East contest on Saturday. Kickoff at Hubert Jack Stadium is set for 12 p.m.
