Ronell Williams And Brandon Monk Honored By ECAC

CAPE COD, Mass. - West Chester University football players continue to rack up ECAC Division II player of the week honors. Running back Brandon Monk was tabbed as special teams player of the week while linebacker Ronell Williams brought home defensive accolades for a second straight week.

So., RB Brandon Monk was named the ECAC Division II special teams player of the week. Monk returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown in Saturday's 38-31 win over visiting Cal. It was the first career kickoff return for a TD for Monk and the first time a WCU player since 1999. It was also the longest kickoff return in school history. Monk returned two kickoffs for a total of 115 yards. His kickoff return for a TD came right after Cal had returned a kickoff for a TD, knocking the wind out of the sails of the Vulcans, and killing any momentum that a KO return would typically generate.

Jr., LB Ronell Williams was named the ECAC Division II defensive player of the week again. Williams registered a team-high 10 tackles in West Chester's 38-31 win over visiting Cal on Saturday. He also sacked the quarterback once for a 10-yard loss. Williams registered back-to-back double-digit tackles for the first time this year. He is just two tackles away from jumping into the Top 10 all-time in tackles at West Chester University and his 42 tackles on the year leads the team.
