LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - West Chester University senior quarterback Mike Mattei was named PSAC East Co-Offensive Player of the Week it was announced by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Sunday afternoon.

Mattei tied a school record with six touchdown passes in West Chester's 56-14 victory over visiting Millersville Saturday night. He completed 16 of his 20 attempts for a total of 358 yards and the six scores. Five of those TD passes came in the first half when the Golden Rams built a 35-7 lead. Mattei set a career high with his 358 passing yards, accounting for more than half of West Chester's 655 yards of total offense.

Mattei threw three touchdown passes in the first quarter, hooking up with sophomore WR Erick Brundidge twice on pass plays that covered 43 and 31 yards. He opened the scoring with a 41-yard strike to WR Tim Keyser. Mattei and Brundidge connected one more time in the second quarter on a 69-yard TD pitch-and-catch that gave the Golden Rams a 28-7 advantage. Mattei would also hit Jim Kelly for 18 yards and a touchdown just before halftime for his fifth scoring strike.

In the second half, Mattei once again teamed up with Kelly on an 11-yard touchdown, making it a 49-14 lead for the hosts. Mattei becomes the fifth West Chester quarterback to throw six TD passes in a single game. Former signal-caller, Joe Wright, was the last to do it in 2008 at Kutztown.

Shippensburg quarterback Zach Zulli was also named PSAC East Co-Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Raiders' 63-21 win over East Stroudsburg. He threw for 496 yards and five TDs in the victory.
