LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – West Chester University placed a school-record 207 student-athletes on the 2011-12 PSAC Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll it was announced by the conference Tuesday. It marked the second straight year that WCU eclipsed 200 honorees.
West Chester’s 207 members of the conference honor roll was second only to Mercyhurst’s 239. Slippery Rock was third with 206 student-athletes. The Golden Rams bested their total of 203 set just one year ago while clearing the 200 plateau for the second straight campaign.
The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference witnessed a new record of 2,176 student-athletes from the PSAC's 16 institutions garnering scholar-athlete honors, which breaks the old mark of 2,047 that was set last year.
The total of 2,176 represents 35 percent of all student-athletes competing at the PSAC's 16
schools, which is also a new record, breaking the old mark of 33 percent, which was set in the 2009-10
academic year.
In order to be named a PSAC Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or above.
