West Chester Third At ECAC Championships; Schuler Third In All-Around

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Stephanie Schuler placed third in the all-around and West Chester University set a school record on the floor exercise en route to a third-place finish at the 29th ECAC Division II Women’s Gymnastics Championships inside Moore Field House on the campus of Southern Connecticut State University Saturday afternoon.
 
University of Bridgeport won its fourth consecutive team title and conference high 15th overall with a score of 195.475. Host Southern Connecticut State was second with a 191.175, and West Chester posted a score of 188.775.
 
The Golden Rams posted a season-high on the floor with a team score of 48.025. Sophomore Paige Griffin placed fifth with a new personal best and school-record 9.875. Senior Erin Simon established a new personal best on the floor in her final meet with a score of 9.75.
 
Schuler scored a 36.975 to place third in the all-around. Junior Kaley LaFleur was fifth on the balance beam with a 9.7, and Karen Leskaris tied for seventh on the uneven bars with a 9.5.
 
In the postseason awards, WCU head coach Barbara Cordova was named the loop’s coach of the year while senior Alli Aquila won the scholar-athlete of the year award.
