West Chester Comes Up Short In PSAC Semifinals, 1-0

ERIE, Pa. – Slippery Rock took advantage of a miscue deep in West Chester’s end with six minutes remaining and scored the only goal of the game, ending the Golden Rams’ season with a 1-0 setback in the PSAC semifinals Saturday afternoon.
 
Second-seeded West Chester (8-8-2), who was making its first playoff appearance since 2007, saw its five-match win streak come to a close against sixth-seeded Slippery Rock (11-3-6).
 
Slippery Rock’s Stephen Donnelly stole the ball from West Chester’s goalkeeper Garrett Bleiler and kicked it into the open net in the 84th minute for the game’s only goal. The Rock held on for the final six minutes to advance to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
West Chester saw its record dip to 1-8-1 all-time in the PSAC Tournament. The Golden Rams did finish the regular season with an overall record above .500 and its most wins in a single season since 2008.
 
Bleiler made five saves in the game while his counterpart, Clayton Master, made five saves as well in the win.
