Ronell Williams Named PSAC East Defensive Player Of The Week

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - West Chester University sophomore MLB Ronell Williams was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division defensive player of the week it was announced Sunday afternoon.

Williams led the Golden Rams with 14 tackles in Saturday's 41-6 victory over LIU Post. Williams was also credited with a QB hurry in the win. Williams anchored a defense that allowed just one score and forced the Pioneers to punt eight times in the contest.

The Chester, Pa., native is tied with Edinboro's Kenny Pettis for the conference lead in tackles with 78. Williams has registered double digits in tackles in four of West Chester's seven games this fall. His 78 stops is one shy of his total all of last year. He has 157 tackles in 17 career games.

Williams becomes the second West Chester defender to be honored in the weekly awards. Senior FS John O'Donnell was also named PSAC East defensive player of the week in the second week of the season.
