Four Golden Rams Gridders Named All-PSAC East

2011 All-PSAC East Football Squad

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – West Chester University landed four players on the All-PSAC East squad it was announced by the loop earlier this week. All four selections were second-team honorees. Chris Faix, Tim Keyser, LaRonn Lee and Mike Pereira were all recognized.

Faix appeared in all 11 games this fall and started 10 of those contests. He made 46 appearances in his four-year letterwinning career at West Chester with 45 starts at left tackle. He has been the most consistent offensive lineman for the Golden Rams over his four-year career.

Keyser enjoyed a breakout season of sorts, leading the Golden Rams in receiving with 38 catches for 470 yards and five touchdowns. He averaged 12.4 yards per catch and 47 yards receiving per game. Keyser also registered five carries for 48 yards, and he returned one kickoff for 20 yards.

Lee finished his sophomore season with 31 catches for 569 yards and a team-high six TD snags. He averaged 18.4 yards per catch and a team-best 51.7 yards receiving per game.

The lone defensive all-league selection was sophomore LB Mike Pereira, who had his season cut short by a concussion after five games. He was leading the team in tackles after five games with 40 stops, including four tackles for a loss and a pair of sacks. Pereira broke up a pass and blocked an extra point.

The Golden Rams’ four second team nominations marked the fewest all-league citations for West Chester since 2000 when only three gridders were named All-PSAC East. 1990 was the last time that the Rams did not have a first team selection on either offense or defense combined.

For the second straight season, Kutztown quarterback Kevin Morton has been named the PSAC East Offensive Player of the Year while Cheyney defensive lineman Tim Hume has been tabbed the PSAC East Defensive Player of the Year as that duo highlights the 2011 All-PSAC East football teams. C.W. Post quarterback Steven Laurino has been selected as the PSAC East Freshman of the Year while Kutztown head coach Raymond Monica has been named the PSAC East Coach of the Year for the second straight season after guiding the Golden Bears to the NCAA playoffs for the second straight year.
