NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - West Chester University junior forward Nicole Fiorilla was named the Atlantic 10 Conference field hockey player of the week it was announced by that organization Tuesday afternoon. Fiorilla earns the player of the week nod in the first weekly release of the season.
Fiorilla, a forward for the Golden Rams, scored the first two goals in a season-opening 3-0 win over Fairfield and was credited with the game-winning tally. The junior went on to net her third goal of the weekend during West Chester’s 3-1 victory against Sacred Heart.
The Downington, Pa., native is averaging three points, and 4.5 shots per game and is the lead goal-scorer for West Chester this season. Fiorilla’s performance against Fairfield marked the first multi-goal game of her collegiate career.
West Chester returns to action on Friday at Lehigh at 4 p.m.
