2010 CDS Division II Preseason All-America Squad
WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Two West Chester University football players were named to the 2010 CDS Division II Preseason All-America teams it was announced by the Consensus Draft Services Monday.
Junior C Kyle O’Neill (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) and senior DE Travis Ford-Bey (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) were both named as honorable mention to the Division II All-America teams. Both make their first appearances on the preseason charts by CDS.
O’Neill, a two-year starter at center for the Golden Rams, anchors a very experienced offensive line that helped the Golden Rams’ offense rank third in the conference overall and second in passing. West Chester’s front five only allowed 13 sacks in 11 games a year ago. O’Neill has been the cornerstone of that front wall, moving to center last season after breaking into the starting lineup his freshman year at right tackle.
Ford-Bey, an All-PSAC East first team selection in the past, recorded 31 tackles a year ago, including 3.5 sacks. He led the squad with seven QB hurries as well. Ford-Bey is the team’s top returning pass rusher and an all-region candidate once again. Ford-Bey registered 8.5 tackles for a loss and has 110 career stops entering 2010. He was a huge part of West Chester’s top-ranked defense in the PSAC last season. The Golden Rams boasted the conference’s top rushing defense as well.
West Chester University opens its 2010 slate on Thursday, Sept. 2 at Delaware. The Golden Rams’ opener is slated for Saturday, Sept. 11 against Edinboro on Michael Horrocks Day at Farrell Stadium.
