LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – West Chester University women’s golf head coach Doug Hendricks was named the coach of the year by his fellow peers in the postseason conference awards it was announced by the loop Thursday afternoon.
Hendricks just completed his first year as the head coach at West Chester University as he earns his first PSAC coach of the year award after guiding the Golden Rams to a third-place finish at the 2009-10 PSAC Championships in April.
East Stroudsburg’s Karen Cash was named the golfer of the year while California (Pa.) golfer Maria Lopez was named the freshman of the year.
The Golden Rams finished just one stroke ahead of fourth-place Gannon. That finish marked a significant improvement for the team over last year's finish in which the Rams placed fifth at PSACs. More significantly, the Golden Rams' team score at the PSAC Championships was 62 strokes better than last year and West Chester also had its first ever top 10 placewinner at PSACs in Ann Bahnick, who finished in 10th place.
