Six Placewinners Highlight West Chester Women On Final Day Of PSAC Championships

2010 PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships

WEST CHESTER, Pa.
– West Chester University’s women’s track & field squad produced six placewinners on the final day of the PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships inside Farrell Stadium on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

West Chester finished 13th in the team standings with 14 points. Shippensburg took the team title with 212.5 points, edging out Slippery Rock with 183 points. Kutztown finished third with 99.5 points. Indiana (Pa.) Maddy Outman was named the most outstanding athlete of the championships while also taking home track athlete of the meet honors. Kutztown’s Ashley Pinter was named the field athlete of the meet.

Both of West Chester’s relay squads placed seventh, earning a total of four points. MacKenzie Lauro, Brigid Gallagher, Sam Smarkola and Melinda Wentz comprised the 4x400 team that crossed in 3 minutes, 58.82 seconds. Lauro, Smarkola, Gallagher and Miriam Hughes made up the 4x100 team that crossed in 49.48 seconds.

Lyndsey Ratasiewicz placed eighth in the 1500m (4:48.05) while Wentz placed eighth in the 100m hurdles (15.08).

Brittany Foye was eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 37 feet, 0 ½ inches. Kamber Schrann was eighth in the pole vault, clearing 10-10 ¾.
