Leighon Johnson Wins PSAC Title On Day 2 At PSACs

2010 PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships

WEST CHESTER, Pa.
- Junior Leighon Johnson captured the long jump as West Chester University took the top two places in that event to score all 18 points for the Golden Rams on Day 2 at the 2010 PSAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships held inside John A. Farrell Stadium Friday afternoon.

West Chester's men are currently fourth overall while Shippensburg leads the men's team scoring with 58 points and Lock Haven sits in second with 57. East Stroudsburg is third with 39 points.

Johnson leaped a conference-best 23 feet, 8 1/4 inches to win the event. That distance was good for an NCAA provisional mark. Teammate Shawn Smith was second behind Johnson with a leap of 23-7 1/2, also hitting an NCAA provisional.

Johnson and Smith made up two of the four runners in West Chester's 4x100m relay team that ran a 41.68 seconds.

Johnson ran the fastest time in the prelims of the 100m dash (10.71) and was second in the prelims of the 200m (21.54). The Golden Rams expect to pick up points in those two finals on Saturday.

Tyler Real placed second in the prelims of the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.19. Matt Houser was sixth in the prelims of the 400m with a time of 47.95. That was good for an NCAA provisional time as well.
