WCU Men's Golf Tied For Fourth After Day One

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester University’s men’s golf squad sits in a tie for fourth place after the first day of competition at the Dr. Ed Cottrell Collegiate Invitational hosted by the Golden Rams on a beautiful Easter Sunday afternoon at Penn Oaks Golf Club’s par-71 course that plays to 6,644 yards.
West Chester shot a 317 as a team, equaling Wilmington University’s foursome. Indiana (Pa.) leads the 10-team leaderboard with a 297. Crimson Hawks’ Leo Acklin shot an even-par 71 to take the top spot on the individual leaderboard Sunday.
Derek Glaser was the Golden Rams’ low score, signing for a 77 to tie for 12th overall. Danny Walck tied for 16th behind Glaser with a 78. Steve Minnick is 21st with a day one total of 80. Doug Brooks carded an 82 and Tyler Canfield an 83.
West Chester’s other squad of five was led by Griffith Basehore’s 81 that ties him for 22nd. Mike Riederer shot an 83 to tie for 32nd place with teammate Canfield.
The final round of the inaugural Dr. Ed Cottrell Collegiate Invitational will tee off Monday morning at 9 a.m.
