Men’s Track & Field Qualify Five For PSACs At WCU Open Invite

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University's men’s track & field team put on an outstanding performance at the WCU Open Invitational Friday. The men’s team took home four first-place finishes, and qualified five individuals for PSACs, on a sunny afternoon and John A. Farrell Stadium.

Tyler Real finished second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.10 seconds, qualifying for the Outdoor PSAC Championships in May. Ryan Karli finished third in 16.04, qualifying for PSAC Championships as well. Eric Atkins was fourth (16.21), qualifying for PSAC’S and Dan Smith was fifth (16.38).

Real won the 400m hurdles with a time of 56.15. Karli took second (56.67), Akins was third (56.99) and Dan Smith was fourth (1:02.34). Real, Karli, and Akins all qualified in the 400m hurdles.

Jacob Perry was third in the 800m with a time of 1:59.15. John Hedrick won the 10K with a time of 33.37.20. Ed Brittingham followed Hedrick in second (33:44.27).

Kyle Miller was third in pole vault, clearin 13 feet, 1 1/2 inches. Zack Sharrah was fourth (12-7 1/2). Andrew Furst tied for fourth place (6-0 3/4).

Carl Barnes took third in triple jump, with a leap of 43-4 1/2, qualifying for PSAC Championships in May. Barnes took first place in long jump, with a 21-5 1/4.

The 4x400 team captured first place with a time of 3:27.07. The team consisted of Akins, Dan Smith, Real, Karli.
