CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University's 4x100m relay captured first place, and Leighon Johnson was an individual winner in three of his four events to lead the Golden Rams to a successful day at the Widener Invitational on a chilly spring Saturday afternoon.
Johnson won the 100m dash in 10.76 seconds. Johnson finished first in the 200m dash, crossing the line at 21.82. He leaped himself to his third, first-place finish in men’s long jump, with a jump of 22 feet, 8 inches. Johnson was part of the 4x100m relay team, which placed first overall with a time of 42:16.
Ryan Karli finished second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.79. Eric Atkins followed up Karli in fifth place at 16.62. Craig Espenshade finished third in the 400m 50.35. Espenshade ran a 1:58.73 in the 800m. Jacob Perry followed Espenshade in the 800m with a time of 1:59.82.
Shawn Smith was third overall in the 100m dash 11.02. Smith placed fifth overall in the 200m dash behind Johnson time of 22.35. Matt House finished sixth in the 200m dash 22.38
Mike Malejko finished seventh in the 3000m steeplechase 10:16.18. Sean Seabeck ran the 5000m 16:49.59. Ed Brittingham finished ninth in the 10,000m 34:05.26.
