WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University's men's tennis squad shutout Gloucester County College, 9-0, in a non-league match at South Campus Courts on a beautiful spring afternoon Thursday.
It may have seemed like Mother Nature was playing a joke on Southeastern PA, as well as much of the East Coast, on April 1. Weather like Thursday afternoon do not typically hit the area until late April. However, sunny skies and temperatures in the high 70s were the playing conditions for West Chester University's men's tennis team against visiting Gloucester.
The Golden Rams (4-5) swept all six singles matches in straight sets after sweeping all three doubles contests. Michael Sim was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No. 6 singles and also teamed up with Alan Day at third doubles for an 8-0 blanking. Day topped his opponent at fifth singles, 6-4, 6-1.
West Chester returns to the courts on Friday afternoon to take on Millersville in a PSAC Eastern Division showdown. Match begins at 2 p.m.
