DENTON, Texas – West Chester University gymnasts Alli Aquila and Kaley LaFleur were chosen for the 2010 USAG Women’s Collegiate National Championships it was announced Monday when USA Gymnastics released its list of qualifiers. The three-day event will be held April 15-17 at Kitty Magee Arena in Pioneer Hall on the campus of Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas.
Eight teams and 18 individuals qualified from across the country and will travel to Denton, Texas to compete for team and individual national titles. The team semifinals for all participating squads and individual qualifiers, which will be conducted in two sessions, will take place on Thursday, April 15 with the top four teams advancing to the team finals on Friday, April 16. The top 10 finishers (including ties) on each event on Thursday will qualify for the individual event finals on Saturday, April 17.
Tickets for the event are on sale and can be purchased at www.2010usagnationals.com. A three-day championship pass is $25 for adults and $13 for students (ages 6-17) and senior citizens (ages 55+). Day pass prices are $10 for adults and $6 for students and senior citizens. Children ages five and under will be admitted free for the entire event, but do require a ticket, which can also be purchased using the online ticket storefront. All seating in Kitty Magee Arena will be general admission only.
Aquila will be making her second trip to nationals in as many years. She tied for 15th last spring in the All-Around competition with a score of 36.975. LaFleur, a freshman at West Chester, will be making her initial trip to nationals. Both will be competing in the All-Around at this year’s nationals.
LaFleur placed fourth at the ECAC Championships in the All-Around one week ago while Aquila was right behind her in fifth.
Air Force, Bridgeport, Cornell, Rutgers, Seattle Pacific, Temple, Texas Woman’s, and William & Mary will compete for the team title.
