2010 NCAA Division II Women's Swimming & Diving Championships - Complete Results
CANTON, Ohio – Senior Jackie Borkowski captured her third individual national championship on the final day of competition and took home female swimmer of the meet honors in the process at the 2010 NCAA Division II Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships held inside C.T. Branin Natatorium Saturday night to lead West Chester University to a fourth-place finish.
Borkowski won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 49.77 seconds, coming .44 seconds from the national record. She becomes West Chester’s first three-time national champion in a single year since Kathrin Dumitru won three titles in 2007. Borkowski becomes the third female swimmer at WCU under head coach Jamie Rudisill to win swimmer of the meet honors. Dumitru won that destinction in 2007 one year after Tammy Leane did it in 2006.
Drury claimed its third team title in the last four years and sixth since 1997, accumulating 657 points. Wayne State was runner up with 531 points and UC San Diego third with 318. West Chester finished fourth with 313.5 points.
Borkowski also led off the 400 free relay team that was a runner-up in the final event of the championships. For the weekend, Borkowski won three national titles, finished fourth in the 500 free and helped three relay teams all earn All-America certificates.
Kristen Montello picked up her third All-America citation of the championships with a fifth-place finish in the 1,650 free. She touched the wall in 17 minutes, 15.85 seconds. Teammate Danielle Ierley was ninth, winning the consolation final, with a time of 17:23.64. Montello was also a part of all three relay teams that Borkowski participated with to take home five All-America plaudits on the weekend.
