2010 NCAA Division II Women's Swimming & Diving Championships - Day Three Results
CANTON, Ohio - West Chester University placed two participants in the finals of the 500-yard freestyle and had another win the consolation finals in the evening session as the Golden Rams' ladies finished day three at the 2010 NCAA Division II Women's Swimming & Diving Championships held at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton, Ohio, Friday night.
West Chester's women's team remains in third place overall with 236.5 points to their credit. Drury continues to lead the team standings with 473 points with Wayne State second with 415 points.
Jackie Borkowski, who has already won two individual national championships at the NCAAs this week, paced West Chester's effort in the 500 free. Normally a sprinter, who entered the distance event at nationals for the first time in her career, finished fourth with a time of 4 minutes, 58.60 seconds. Teammate Kristen Montello was right behind her at 5:00.07.
Danielle Ierley placed ninth overall, winning the consolation final, with a time of 4:59.12. She shaved five seconds off of her qualifying time from the morning session to take first in the consolation round.
The threesome of Borkowski, Montello and Ierley teamed with Megan Bauer in the 800 free relay to help West Chester to a third-place finish. That team touched the wall in 7:30.87.
Erin Fischer finished eighth in the 200 butterfly to pick up her second individual All-America certificate at nationals.
