West Chester Men Fall To Penn, 180-117

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.
– West Chester’s men’s swimming & diving squad won three events, including a sweep of the top three spots in the 500-yard freestyle, but Division I Ivy League power Penn was too much for the Golden Rams, 180-117, Friday night at Sheerr Pool.

West Chester (3-4) dropped its third dual in its last four tries while Penn (5-3) has won three of its last four duals.

Tommy Rhoads led a Golden Rams trio to the wall in the 500 free with a winning time of 4 minutes, 41.69 seconds. Max Bernardes was second in 4:47.21 and Matt Flanders was third in 5:15.80.

Kenny McCormick touched out first in the 400 individual medley with a 4:09.70. Brendan Magarity was right behind McCormick with a time of 4:17.49.

The Golden Rams’ 200 medley relay won with a time of 1:26.03. Brendan Fanslau, Rhoads, Josh Pauley and Michael Westley made up that winning foursome.

The Penn dual was West Chester’s final tune-up for the PSAC Championships,which are scheduled to get under way on Thursday, Feb. 18 in Chambersburg, Pa.
