Sam Scott Named Honorable Mention All-America By D2Football.com
Scott also named to Don Hansen Football Gazette Third Team
WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Senior linebacker Sam Scott was named honorable mention All-America by D2Football.com it was announced by that organization earlier this week. Scott was also named to the Don Hansen's Football Gazette third team it was announced on Wednesday morning.
Scott finished third on the team in tackles with 62 stops this past fall for the Golden Rams. He led the conference with 16.5 tackles for a loss and posted a team-high 7.5 sacks. He forced two fumbles, intercepted a pass and blocked two kicks on the year. He was also credited with five QB hurries.
In the 16th Valero Cactus Bowl Scott was the game’s leading tackler with 14 stops (nine solo), including one for a loss. He also forced two fumbles as well. His 14 tackles tied the Cactus Bowl record.
Scott ranked 38th in the NCAA in sacks per game (0.68) and tied for 18th nationally in tackles for a loss per game (1.55). With Scott’s recent achievements, he improves his chances for the upcoming NFL Draft in late April.
Scott was also named All-PSAC East as an outside linebacker for West Chester's 7-4 football squad this past fall.
