NEW HAVEN, Conn., - Kristen Montello turned in three lifetime bests  to help visiting West Chester University score a 161-125 victory over regional rival Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon at the Hutchinson Natatorium.

Montello won three freestyle events, accounting for one-third of West Chester’s nine first-place finishes on Saturday as the Golden Rams easily swam past the Owls. Montello’s time of 10 minutes, 29.27 seconds in the 1000 free was a personal best, as was her 1:56.28 in the 200 free and her 5:08.07 in the 500 free.

Erin Fischer, last week’s PSAC women’s swimmer of the week, turned in an all-time personal best in the 200 butterfly, touching the wall first in 2:06.19. Fischer also swam the third leg of the 200 medley relay that won with a time of 1:50.95.

Jackie Borkowski was the only other double-winner. She touched out first in the 50 free (24.63) and the 100 backstroke (1:00.06). West Chester claimed the top three spots in that last event. Jillian Murphy placed second behind Borkowski (1:01.31) and Jess Healy was third (1:03.36).

Murphy also won the 200 back in 2:13.15. Megan Bauer was a winner in the 100 free (54.45).

Dana DePaul won the 3-meter diving competition with a score of 242.40.

West Chester returns to the pool next Friday for a 6 p.m. meet at Penn.
