West Chester Women Lead Hopkins After Day One Of Tri-Meet

TRENTON, N.J. – West Chester University’s women’s swimming & diving squad holds a comfortable lead over Johns Hopkins, 143-54, after the first day of competition in the tri-meet Friday evening.

West Chester’s ladies claimed the top spot in 10 events, dominating the Blue Jays all night long.

The Golden Rams won all three relays competed on Friday, including the 200-yard freestyle relay (1 minute, 39.97 seconds), the 200 medley relay (1:50.17) and the 800 free relay (7:49.43). Megan Bauer was the staple of all three relays, pacing West Chester to the win each time.

Jackie Borkowski swam the anchor leg of the 800 free relay while also winning the 200 free herself in a time of 1:54.48. Borkowski also took the 500 free in 5:07.73. Teammate Danielle Ierley was right behind Borkowski in the 200 free (1:56.42).

Erin Fischer, who was part of the 200 medley relay winning foursome, also won the 100 butterfly in 57.18. Leah Vavaro won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.53. Jess Healy was right behind her in 1:01.96.

Rachael Gale won the 100 breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:08.37.

Michelle Murphy won the 1-meter springboard diving competition with a score of 279.67, and Dana DePaul won the 3-meter event with a 294.45.
