The West Chester University cheerleaders take action for the Make-A-Wish foundation during Saturday's football game versus Kutztown University on "Family Day" at Farrell Stadium at 6 p.m.
Make-A-Wish is an organization designed to grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. Before West Chester kicks off on Saturday against Kutztown, and during halftime of the game, the cheerleaders will be walking around the stands and concourse areas collecting money for this worthwhile charity. The idea to support Make-A-Wish came through the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). With help from other athletes and their contributors, SAAC hopes to raise enough money to grant a wish.
The cheerleading squad takes advantage of the annual “Family Weekend” on September 26th just like many other students. The cheerleaders’ families join them in Sturzebecker Gym to share food and drinks while the girls use this time to show off a few tricks to family and friends. This has been a tradition for the past few years.
However, a new addition to this annual routine involves contributing to Make-A-Wish foundation.
