West Chester Women Fifth At Dickinson-Long Invitational
CARLISLE, Pa. - Glenna Champion and Lyndsey Ratasiewicz paced the West Chester women’s cross country team to a combined fifth-place finish in the Dickinson-Long Short Invitational on a bright and sunny Saturday afternoon.
West Chester registered a combined team score of 205 points. Runners competed in either a 4k or a 6k race. Champion recorded a time of 24 minutes, 12.50 seconds in her 6k race, good enough for the third-best time by a WCU runner in the event in the last six years. Champion placed 15th in the event. Kristina Koutsouros followed Champion in 25th place with a time of 24:53.30.
Tina Furlong (25:43.80) and Laura Carnes (26:4.40) placed 47th and 56th, respectively, in the 6k race.
Ratasiewicz led all West Chester runners in the 4k race, stopping the clock with a time of 15:52.80, the best time by a WCU runner in the event in the last six years. She was joined in the top 50 by Rachel Wynn, who crossed in 16:41.50, good enough for 41st place.
Other WCU runners in the 4k race included Amanda Geary (18:19.50 – 95th place, Jules Connelly (18:53.40 – 120th place) and Alison Imboden (19:29.40 – 139th place)
West Chester returns to action on Oct. 2 at the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa.
