2009 PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships Site
MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – From May 7-9, Millersville University plays host to the 2009 PSAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Men and women athletes from 14 schools will compete for individual PSAC titles and also the PSAC team crown at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium. West Chester's contingent on the women's side consists of 16 athletes.
Action begins on Thursday with the men’s decathlon and women’s heptathlon at 11 a.m. Also, the women’s 10,000-meter run takes place at 8 p.m. and is followed by the men’s 10,000-meter final. Admission to Thursday’s events is free.
Field events, beginning with the men’s hammer throw and women’s long jump, open competition on Friday at 12 p.m. Track events start at 1:05 p.m. with the women’s 4x100-meter relay prelims and run until 6 p.m. when the men’s 5,000-meter run final closes the day.
Championship Saturday begins at 11 a.m. with the men’s pole vault, men’s discus and women’s triple jump. Track events start at 12:30 p.m. Drawing the meet to a close is the men’s 4x400-meter relay final and the awards ceremony at 4:15 p.m.
General admission for Friday or Saturday is $7 for adults and $2 for students. Students with PSACs school I.D. are admitted free of charge. Fans interested in attending the championships on Friday and Saturday can purchase a two-day pass for $12.
Slippery Rock enters as the defending champion on both the men and women’s sides. In 2008, The Rock ran away with the women’s team title, scoring 203.5 points while the runner-up, Lock Haven, managed 111. The men’s chase was much tighter. Slippery Rock totaled 124.5 points and Lock Haven (108) and Shippensburg (101.5) finished close behind.
