Five West Chester Players Selected IWLCA All-Region

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – West Chester University landed three players on the first team of the IWLCA All-South Region women’s lacrosse squad as voted on by the region’s head coaches. Two more Golden Rams were honored as second team choices it was announced by the coaches’ association recently.

Gina DiDomenicis, Mary Beth Green and Courtney Whiting were all named to the top squad. Jackie Baker (Media, Pa./Penncrest) and Katy Crouse were second team selections.

Players selected to the first team all-region clubs are now eligible for All-America recognition when those teams are announced in the next coming weeks.

DiDomenicis was the calm in the storm for the sixth-ranked Golden Rams (14-3) this season. She ranked second on the team in ground balls (47) and draw controls (40) while listing tied for third in caused turnovers (27). The four-time PSAC all-leaguer also finished eighth on the team in scoring with 18 goals and 22 points in her final season.

Whiting finished tied for the team lead in goals scored with 46 and ranked third overall in scoring with 59 points. The senior center midfielder was the workhorse on faceoffs and ranked second in the country in draw controls with 74. She placed third on the Rams in ground balls with 45. Whiting netted five game-winning goals and caused 33 turnovers on the year. She was the PSAC Eastern Division player of the year and a first-team all-league member.

Green backstopped West Chester to its third straight undefeated league campaign as the Golden Rams posted a perfect 10-0 mark in the newly formed Eastern Division of the PSAC. Green registered a .561 save percentage and a 7.11 goals-against average, both of which ranked second nationally. She was also named to the PSAC East’s first team all-league squad.

Jackie Baker, a two-time All-America pick each of the past two seasons, was a second team all-region selection this spring. The senior attacker led the Golden Rams in scoring with 76 points, good for 23rd in the country in that category. Baker tied Whiting for the team lead in goals with 46. She was also a second team All-PSAC East pick.

Katy Crouse, another All-America selection in 2008, was a second team All-South honoree. She led the squad in caused turnovers with 39 and placed second in ground balls with 58.
