LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - West Chester freshman sprinter Sam Smarkola was named PSAC women's track athlete of the week it was announced by the loop Wednesday afternoon.
Smarkola won the 100m dash and was a member of the 4x400m relay team while placing second in the 200m dash at the Golden Rams' Invitational hosted by West Chester University inside John A. Farrell Stadium last weekend. Smarkola hit a PSAC qualifying time in both the 100m and 200m with a time of 12.87 seconds and 26.48 seconds, respectively.
The first-year sprinter earns her first college weekly plaudit in the first week of awards for the outdoor season.
