LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Senior Max Bernardes swam to three NCAA 'A' automatic qualifying times and also swam on one relay team that posted an automatic qualifying time at last weekend's Cavalier Invitational hosted by Virginia.
Swimming in his home state for the final time in his college career, Bernardes posted an 'A' time of 15 minutes, 53.37 seconds in the 1650-yard freestyle, nearly five seconds better than the 'A' mark, and finished in fifth place. He also swam an 'A' time in the 500 free, touching the wall in 4:32.02, and in the 400 IM, putting up a time of 4:03.05. He also led off on the 800 free relay team that posted an automatic qualifying time.
West Chester University is back in action in January when the Golden Rams travel to The College of New Jersey for a tri-meet with TCNJ and Johns Hopkins.
