2009 Men's Soccer All-PSAC Squad

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – West Chester University placed four of its men’s soccer players on the first team All-PSAC squad it was announced by the conference this afternoon. The vote of the league’s head coaches landed Ricky Williamson, Jason Mackel, J.J. DiFerdinando and Zach Weaver on the all-league team.

Millersville’s Kyle Loughlin was named the PSAC East Player of the Year. Bloomsburg’s Tyler Phillips was the 2009 PSAC East Freshman of the Year. Bloomsburg made it two out of three in the major awards category in the East as veteran head coach Paul Payne was named the East Coach of the Year for the first time in his career.

Bloomsburg and West Chester led the way in the PSAC East with four selections each. In the West, four out of the five teams each had four selections, with Slippery Rock, Mercyhurst, Gannon and California (Pa.) each placing four on the all-conference team.

West Chester (4-9-2, 1-5-2) finished in third place in the Eastern Division and missed the playoffs for the second straight year. However, the Golden Rams had a representative on the all-league team from all three lines among field players.

Zach Weaver is the only repeat performer on the first team. He was a first-team sweeper a year ago as well. Weaver tied with Williamson for the team lead in scoring with 13 points each. His six goals topped the squad as well. Williamson potted five goals for the Golden Rams.

DiFerdinando finished tied for fourth on the squad in scoring with five points. He netted two goals himself, despite playing an outside back position. Midfielder Jason Mackel was the other West Chester representative on the squad. He started all 15 games for the Rams in 2009.
