AMHERST, Mass.
- Katie Kelly scored a hat trick to lead No. 17 Massachusetts to a 6-0 shutout over visiting West Chester University in an Atlantic 10 field hockey match Sunday afternoon at Garber Field.

West Chester (8-10, 3-3 Atlantic 10) finishes the season in a tie for fourth place with UMass (12-8, 3-3). The Minutewomen gain the final spot in the postseason tournament by virtue of Sunday's win over the Golden Rams. West Chester needed to defeat UMass to earn that final playoff spot because Temple defeated regular-season league champion Richmond, 4-2, on Sunday.

UMass scored 14 seconds into the game, then added another tally in the 18th minute to take a 2-0 lead into the break. After halftime, the Minutewomen poured in four more goals to put any doubt as to the outcome out of reach.

Joelle Zarefoss played the entire game in the cage for West Chester, allowing all six goals while making four saves.
