Game Notes

WEST CHESTER, Pa.
- No. 16/20 West Chester University lifts the lid on its football season Saturday afternoon in a regionally televised tilt at No. 5/6 California (Pa.) in Adamson Stadium. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.

The preseason favorites to win their respective divisions within the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and last year’s defending divisional champions collide again in the 2008 season opener for both schools. It is one of only four matchups this weekend between nationally ranked opponents and has garnered well-deserved attention by the media. Today’s clash of DII titans will be televised live on FSN Pittsburgh in Western Pennsylvania.

West Chester University lifts the lid on its 87th season of intercollegiate college football with its road tilt opposite PSAC West rival Cal. The Golden Rams are coming off a PSAC East Division championship and ECAC team of the year plaudits after authoring its second straight nine-win campaign. West Chester reached the NCAA II playoffs for the fourth straight year – the third longest such string currently alive entering 2008.

Cal enters off the heals of a PSAC West Division title and a school-record 13-1 campaign that saw the Vulcans advance to the NCAA semifinals before bowing to eventual national champion Valdosta St., 28-24.
