CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – West Chester’s 400 free relay squad took first place in the final event of the Cavalier Invitational to cap a very successful trip to the University of Virginia Saturday evening at the Aquactics and Fitness Center.
The Golden Rams’ foursome of Kristen Montello, Jackie Borkowski, Megan Bauer and Danielle Ierley finished in 3:32.22 to place first overall. West Chester’s ‘B’ squad finished third in the event in 3:39.25. That team consisted of Jillian Murphy, Erin Fischer, Christie Stern and Rachael Gale.
Murphy also placed fifth in the 200 backstroke, touching the wall in 2:09.82 while Borkowski was fifth in the 100 free (51.80) to highlight West Chester’s other top performances on Saturday.
13th-ranked Virginia won the event easily with Yale finishing second. West Chester placed third overall, going up against the two Division I powers.
Megan Brownrigg was seventh in the 200 breaststroke (2:26.57) and Bauer eighth in the 100 free (52.85).
